Facial slimming for TMJ is a specialised treatment that addresses the symptoms of temporomandibular joint disorder while also enhancing facial aesthetics by slimming the jawline. The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is a complex hinge connecting your jawbone to your skull, enabling essential movements such as talking, chewing, and yawning. TMJ disorders can arise from various causes, leading to pain, discomfort, and functional limitations. These disorders might be due to muscle tension, jaw injuries, arthritis, or other factors affecting the joint's smooth operation.

Symptoms of TMJ disorders can include:

• Jaw pain or tenderness

• Aching pain around your ear

• Difficulty or discomfort while chewing

• Locking of the jaw, making it hard to open or close your mouth

• Clicking or popping sounds when moving your jaw

Pain is a very subjective experience and each individual has a different pain threshold. At Aesthetic Avenue we aim to make you as comfortable as possible during your procedure. We utilise strong topical anaesthetic, ice, stress balls and distraction induced analgesia (vibration device).

This will vary from treatment to treatment and the number of areas we are addressing at one time. Procedure time can range from 30 minutes to 2 hours.

No, you cannot have any cosmetic injectables treatments. It is unethical to perform studies on pregnant or breastfeeding women - as such, there is no evidence to suggest it is safe for your babe. However, we can still undergo a consultation where we tailor a treatment plan for when you’re able to proceed.

As a mother of 3, Nurse Raluka is very understanding. You are welcome to bring your child/children or a friend to your appointment. Please notify the clinic if bringing children so extra time can be allocated to your appointment. Please ensure your younger children are self secured in a pram or are at an age where they can sit for the duration of your appointment.
